Below, you can read reflections on the first Transition US National Gathering from eight different attendees and presenters. Some are Transition US staff, while others are local Transition Initiative leaders or community resilience-builders who are unaffiliated with the Transition Movement. Each shares their own insightful perspective on this inspiring and multi-faceted event.
Thanks to a generous anonymous donation, I had the pleasure of joining Mark and Kathy Juedeman (Mark is an AERO board member) in St. Paul, Minnesota for the first ever national gathering for Transition U.S.
Since I was visiting a dear friend and former colleague in St. Paul, MN, I thought, “Why not attend this Transition US National Gathering!”
The first-ever Transition US National Gathering (and the follow-up Leadership Retreat and Movement Strategy Session) was a great success!
This year, on July 27-August 1, 2017, TUS held its first-ever National Gathering, at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. It brought together Transition Towns from across the country for six days of workshops and networking.
I have just returned from the first Transition US National Gathering and then a subsequent Leadership Retreat and I have Transition on my mind.
The portion of humanity perceiving the potential enormous challenges ahead is a relatively small yet potent community. For this reason, attendees to the first Transition US Gathering were excited to be in the company of so many like-minded folk.

A little more than a decade after Rob Hopkins established the first “Transition Town," Transition US will host its first National Gathering in Minnesota this July.
